FAQ

Direct answers to direct questions.

Company, platform, security, dual-use, and engagement — written tight, ontology-first, without product-marketing softening.

Company

Who is Space Acceleration Industries?

Space Acceleration Industries UG (haftungsbeschränkt) — SAI — is a Bremen, Germany based European space and defense company. We build digital coordination infrastructure for the New Space economy, with a dual-use posture and allied-aligned interoperability.

Where is SAI based and what jurisdiction applies?

SAI is headquartered in Bremen, Germany, with office presence at the ESA Business Incubation Centre Northern Germany. The operating entity is registered under German law; place of jurisdiction is Bremen. The company operates inside the European Union regulatory perimeter.

What stage is the company at?

Active operating phase. SAI is an ESA BIC Northern Germany incubatee (2025) and a NASA Space Apps Collective All-Star Award recipient (2025). Engagement is ongoing across European and allied innovation and procurement pathways.

Platform

What is the platform — concretely?

A modular protocol stack for the New Space economy. It combines a secure data repository layer, an asset exchange protocol, and a marketplace protocol — plus integration surfaces for automated demand aggregation and market-to-market interoperability. The stack is designed to be deployed under sovereign control and to interoperate cleanly across allied environments.

Is the platform live today?

Components are validated in closed and open environments at varying technology readiness levels (TRL 3–9 across capability areas). Public production rollout follows the engagement model: sponsor-aligned, mission-bound, with documented evidence at each phase. See Roadmap and Product Overview.

Is the platform open or proprietary?

The platform is standards-aligned and reference-architecture-led. Where appropriate, components are released under open-source licensing; where mission requirements demand, components are delivered under proprietary or sponsor-restricted terms. Open-data and open-science participation is supported by design.

Security & Compliance

Which standards is the platform aligned with?

The platform is built against USSF, NATO, NASA, ESA, MITRE, and NIST references — including the NIST cybersecurity and NICE workforce families, MITRE adversary frameworks, and applicable ESA technical standards. Cross-standard mapping is part of the engagement model.

How does SAI handle ITAR-controlled and EAR-controlled scenarios?

As a German company operating under EU jurisdiction, SAI does not perform activities subject to U.S. ITAR or EAR control directly. For engagements where U.S.-origin controlled technology is in scope, work is structured through appropriate partners, jurisdictional routing, and contracting vehicles. Export-control posture is established before scope is set.

What is SAI's posture on data sovereignty?

Sovereign by default. Deployments are designed so that data residency, key custody, and access control remain under the sponsoring entity's control. Federated exchange and coalition workflows are enabled through policy and cryptography rather than data centralization.

Commercial & Dual-Use

How does the platform support dual-use scenarios?

Commercial and defense use share the same protocol substrate. Separation between regimes is enforced through identity, policy, and cryptography rather than parallel stacks. This is the architectural premise behind the dual-use position: shared substrate, controlled flow.

Who buys from SAI?

Operators, integrators, agencies, and allied programs. Commercial engagement runs through direct contracting and partner integrators. Government and defense engagement runs through agency framework contracts, allied innovation programs, and procurement vehicles.

Engagement

How do partners engage with SAI?

Partnership routing is handled directly. For agency programs, allied initiatives, and ecosystem partnerships, route via the Partnerships channel on the Contact page. For integrators and operators, route via General Enquiries.

How do I reach SAI for a defense or cyber briefing?

Use the Defense & Cyber channel on the Contact page. Briefings are scheduled under appropriate engagement frameworks. Where sponsor-specific confidentiality is required, this is established before substantive discussion.

Does SAI take investment?

Investor enquiries are handled directly via the Investor Relations channel. SAI operates a jurisdictionally-routed capital structure across European, U.S., and other vehicles to support institutional, venture, and strategic capital across geographies.

How do I subscribe to updates?

A formal newsroom is in formation. Until publication begins, updates are shared through partnership and program channels. See Newsroom for status and press enquiries.
